61. And to Thamud We sent their brother Salih [127]. He said, "O my people, worship Allah. You have no deity besides Him. He created you from the earth [128] and settled you in it [129]. So ask forgiveness from Him and turn to Him in repentance [130]. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive [131]."

63. He said, "O my people, tell me, if I am on clear evidence [135] from my Lord, and He has granted me mercy from Himself, then who will protect me from Allah if I disobey Him? You will add nothing to me but loss."

64. And O my people! This is a she-camel of Allah, a sign for you [136]. Then leave her to graze in Allah's land, and do not touch her with evil [137], or a near torment will overtake you.

65. Then they hamstrung [138] her. Saleh said, "Enjoy [139] yourselves in your dwellings for three days. This is a promise that will not be falsified."

66. Then when Our Command came, We saved Saleh and those who believed with him by Our mercy [140], and from the humiliation of that day. No doubt, your Lord is the All-Mighty, the All-Powerful.

67. And a roaring noise [141] overtook those who did wrong, and by morning, they lay prostrate in their homes.

68. As though they had never dwelt therein. No doubt, Thamud denied [142] their Lord. So curse be upon Thamud.
